When my husband and I sold our nursery group in June 2019, the burning question on everyone’s lips was ‘What’s next?’. In truth after 13 years of 24/7, customer care and leading a team of 120+ across our businesses we wanted a pause.
Anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit will know, people like us do not really know how to pause, therefore even in a pandemic, our minds are always working in terms of seeking out connections and opportunities. That said, I have ‘sat’ for a while pondering where my future was going and after completing a number of design/renovation projects for our own businesses over the years, I decided to take a little leap of faith and go back to studying by completing a diploma in Professional Interior Design.
It came to me, that whilst I was indeed learning something new, I was merging these new learnings with something of old, because I had often taken a blank canvas and created a space for children to learn in, spaces for people to enjoy self-catering holidays in and places for people to enjoy drinking coffee in. Hence the birth of Devlin Interior Design.
The Lockdown of 2020/21 has been so challenging and so heart-breaking for so many, but I live in hope that the world will resume sometime soon. Until then, even Devlin Interior Design has had to learn something new already and that is adapting to offering interior design services virtually. So after years of co-ordinating our own commercial and residential projects from their infancy this has paved the way for something new.
